CURRENT PROGRAMS
- MEDICAL ASSISTANCE
Our help in the field of medicine is both preventative and to cure existing ailments.
We give free consultations, perform minor surgery, assist in childbirth, and give away what
medicines we have in good supply. Occasional house calls are made to the seriously ill.
To those patients in serious condition we attempt to admit to and provide treatment at
hospitals for free. For prevention, we carry out campaigns in health education (e.g. about hygiene),
distribution of vitamins, and treatment for parasites.
One of our goals for the future is to build our own rural hospital. Today we only have a small
clinic which is not very well equipped and is sustained only by the money given by patients
who can afford to pay.
- HYGIENIC SERVICES
To improve the overall health of the population a radical change in the local environment is needed.
Water purification and general sanitation have to be established. Without this service the process
of sickness and death cannot be stopped.
Currently we only have a small group of volunteers without logistical support.
- SERVICE FOR ORPHANS AND SENIORS
There is a complete lack of existing services in this area. Medicine, prosthetics, wheelchairs,
and transportation are especially needed.
We are also on course to create a home for orphans and seniors to be able to
shelter them, to educate the children and to give the necessary support required for the old.
- TRADITIONAL AND NON-TRADITIONAL FARMING
We educate and participate in better land management, animal husbandry, and environmental
protection. We would like to provide students the opportunity to intern in our organization
in their related fields.
Through this service we help people increase their economic output and increase the source
of their nutrition. We hope that more education and changing attitudes will lead to a greater
quality of life and better health.
- FREE LEGAL SERVICES
No legal services whatsoever exist in rural areas of Jutiapa. In addition to free legal
counseling we aim to educate people on basic legal rights, how to claim them, and how to
contact relevant governmental institutions.
Since Jutiapa border to the north of El Salvador, it serves as a stopping point for emigrants
heading towards the United States of America. They have their own specific legal needs,
and our goal is to try and provide them.
- TRAINING AND RECRUITING VOLNUTEERS
Our organization has plans to further integrate with our community in order to attract volunteers
and establish a strong relationship with the population. We do this by going into the community
and explaining our objectives. So far we have had an overwhelming response by local people!
